William "Bill" Laverne Hingtgen

William Laverne “Bill” Hingtgen, 71, of Santa Clara, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2026, surrounded by the love and caring presence of his wife, Jodi, their three children and best buddy Brutus. His family was by his side, giving him their love, comfort, and attention as he passed. Bill was born on July 25, 1955, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Laverne and Janet Hingtgen. He was raised in LaMotte, Iowa, where he lived until 1959, when his family moved to Bellevue, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and Marquette High School before continuing his education at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed his residency in radiology. Following his medical training, Bill moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he practiced radiology with Radiology Chartered for more than 25 years. It was during those years in Green Bay that he met his wife, Jodi (Valerie Jo Goodavish) Hingtgen. They were married on August 14, 1993, and together they raised three wonderful and amazing children, Nicholas William Hingtgen of Phoenix, Arizona; Isaac Mitchell Hingtgen of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Tessa Jo Hingtgen of Peoria, Arizona. Bill’s greatest passions centered around the outdoors, adventure and, above all, time spent with the people he loved. Some of his happiest memories were made with Jodi, his children, extended family, and friends at their lake home on the Three Lakes Chain. Countless hours were spent boating, enjoying time on the pontoon, and water skiing. He loved fishing in Canada and hunting white-tailed deer in northern Wisconsin with family and friends. One particularly memorable adventure was a hunting trip to New Zealand with friends. Bill also enjoyed bird hunting and faithfully took his Labradors along on those adventures. Golf provided another opportunity for Bill to travel and spend time with friends, including numerous “guy” golf trips around the country. Family travel was equally important to him. The family took many memorable trips to interesting destinations, often choosing places where they could scuba dive together. In his later years, Bill and Jodi continued their love of travel, enjoying numerous cruises around the world. Bill will be remembered for his love of adventure, his devotion to his family and friends, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to share his life. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jodi; his three children and his siblings, Terry (Terrence), Peggy (Hughes), Dan (Daniel), and Jenny (Jennifer) McGill. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Terence Rhodes, Oncologist, and the entire oncology team; the entire Dixie Hospice nursing team; Dixie Palliative Care, with special thanks to friend and physical therapist Nate Gravely; the Home Instead Home Health Caregivers team; and special thanks to close and personal friends Bob Cavanaugh and Renee Massy for the loving care, compassion, friendship, and attention they gave to Bill and his family. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held by personal invitation at the family’s home in mid October. Bill leaves behind a lifetime of adventure, laughter, friendship, and love ~ and a family and many friends who will carry his memory with them always.
