Clark Rulon Magleby

Clark Rulon Magleby, 80, passed away December 27, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with prostate cancer. Clark was born on August 4, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Holy Cross Hospital. After living in both Ogden and Ephriam, Clark’s family moved to Cedar City in 1948. He developed a passion for cars at a young age and was active in the Boy Scouts of America, becoming an Eagle Scout and attending the national Boy Scout Jamboree in 1960. He graduated from Cedar City High School in 1963. Clark joined the National Guard after high school, eventually serving for six years. At the same time, he attended college at Southern Utah University, graduating with an Associate Degree in metal technology in 1968 and another in automotive in 1969. That same year, Clark earned a B.S. degree in industrial education from SUU before going on to earn a Masters in Industrial Education from Utah State University in 1973, having taken summer courses from both Ford and GM. Moving to Hurricane, Utah, in 1969, Clark began his teaching career as the integrated shop program instructor at Hurricane High School. In 1978, he accepted a position to teach automotive and cabinet-making classes at Dixie High School for another 22 years. After retiring formally in 2000, he wrapped up his career teaching cabinet making at Pineview High School for another 10 years, being recognized with a “Certificate of Service” for 40 years in the Washington County School District in 2010. Clark’s passion for sports cars, classic automobiles, and motorcycles remained with him throughout his life, along with a love for flying single-prop airplanes. He also loved the ocean and the mountains and was an active member of The Hiking Club. Clark enjoyed woodworking and building hand-crafted furniture, loved repairing and restoring cars, and found joy doing yard work. He was a big reader of all kinds of books, studying various religions, and loved to travel and have adventures. He especially loved family gatherings, his two daughters, his two grandsons, and teasing his little sister forever. Clark is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Bishop and Suzanne Magleby, two daughters, Carrie Magleby (Patrick Ortman) and Cindy (Travis) Black, and two grandsons, Nathan and Tyler Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, VR and Ila Magleby. Clark’s earthly remains will be interred at Tonaquint Cemetery Cremation Gardens, 1777 South Dixie Drive, during a ossuary service beginning at 2:00 on Friday, January 9, 2026. The family would like to thank the medical professionals who helped Clark during the last few challenging months and the hospice staff that made his final hours more peaceful.
