Barbara Ann Platta Chase

Barbara Ann Chase (née Platta), of Wales, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Reginald and Patricia Platta, Barbara lived a life defined by kindness, curiosity, and devotion to family and community. She was a cherished member of the Wales community, where she spent more than 20 years serving in various roles at Wales Elementary School before her retirement in 2001. She also spent time in service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church singing in the choir, teaching catechism and serving at the fish fries. Known for her warmth, patience, and gentle humor, Barbara touched countless lives through her work and her friendships. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness toward others, and her zest for life. Barbara married the love of her life, Kenneth (“Ken”) Chase, and together they shared a lifetime of adventure and companionship. From canoeing many of the rivers across the state of Wisconsin, to rafting through the Grand Canyon, hiking in Glacier National Park, and strolling the cobblestone streets of Paris, Barbara embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She was equally content sharing a quiet evening at home with Ken and a good glass of red wine, and a good game of cribbage while reflecting on the many memories they made together. They moved to St. George Utah after retirement and raising their children in Wales Wisconsin. Her greatest pride and happiness came from her family. She is survived by Kenneth E. Chase her husband of 61 years and three children: Timothy Chase and his wife Donna, Susan Keepman and her husband Al, and Nicole Chase-Dobiash and her husband Jason. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Scott Chase, Kelly Chase-Geib, Eric Chase, Megan Whittier, Allison Fiato, Emma Dobiash, Carson Dobiash, and Miles Dobiash. She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren Scarlett and Juliette, and her brother Nicholas Platta and his wife Kate. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Patricia Platta, and her brothers Michael Platta and Bill Platta. Thank you to Renew Home Hospice for their compassionate care, especially Jennifer, whose guidance, knowledge, and kindness supported us throughout this journey. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held January 10, 2026, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, S38 w31602 Wern Way, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53189. Visitation from 9:00 to 11:00AM and Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to American Alzheimer’s Association.
