Wilma June Read Weese

Wilma June Read Weese was born June 9, 1936, in Ogden, Utah. She was the daughter of Alva Park Read and Ruby Valette Byington. She had five siblings: Doris Ruby Read Smith (Patrick Arthur), LaRene Eliza Read Cook (David Henry), Delvin Alva Read (Dalene Adams), and Ronald William Read (Melanie Stevens). She was the wife of Wayne Larry Weese of St. George, Utah. They were married for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on May 6, 1958. She passed away on April 6, 2026. Wilma graduated from Ogden High School and then went to San Jose, California for nurses training. She loved being a nurse and helping people. Her next thirty years were spent working in labor and delivery at Fresno Community Hospital in Fresno, California, Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto, California and Ogden Regional Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She loved the fact that she helped her husband graduate from Fresno State College by working three years on the relief shift. Wilma loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as a counselor in Primary many times. Primary songs and lessons were her favorites. She was called to be the Relief Society President which she found to be challenging but rewarding. After moving to St. George, Utah she was again called to be the Relief Society President in the Sun River First Branch. She loved serving with the sisters and helping them lead Christlike lives. Wilma’s family was important to her. She and Larry loved their family. They were blessed to have three faithful sons and three lovely daughters-in- law: Brian Larry (Lynnette Hardy), David Stuart (Alisa Eileen Bullock), and Paul Hansen (Leonor Pedroso). They were also blessed to have grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma often said that the best part of her life was with her husband, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored them all. Wilma was creative. She loved to write poems, crochet, read the scriptures, and worthwhile books. She also enjoyed traveling when her health allowed. She enjoyed cooking for her husband because she was so grateful for a loving husband who took care of their needs by being active in the Priesthood. Life was good if Larry was there. The family would like to thank the care team of Dixie Home Health, especially Cindy, and Brandy and the staff at Ridgeview Assisted Living who have lovingly cared for Wilma. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Many thanks to Serenity Funeral Home and The Cremation Center of Southern Utah for their services. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, Utah.
