Leslie Anderson-Eckert

Leslie (Skip) Anderson-Eckert left this world June 8, 2025 after a determined campaign for many years against Metastatic Breast Cancer. She was born August 4, 1942 to Albert Bruschke and Zoe Pullman in Los Angeles, California. She spent early years in Bellevue, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Spokane, Washington and Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Lewis & Clark High School (Spokane), East High School and the University of Utah. She married and later divorced John R. Anderson and they had two children Amy and Emilie. She had a love of work and had a varied career with Mountain Bell, AT&T, Coldwell Banker as a Real Estate agent, and Western Mortgage, Washington Mutual, Country Wide and Bank of America where she excelled and loved to help people as a Mortgage Loan officer. She married Harold D. Eckert in 1997, who she had previously known and dated during college days. Hal and Leslie enjoyed their travels to Sydney, Australia; Banff, Canada; Tuscany, Italy and especially their trips to Kauai, Hawaii. They and their friends were avid U of U football fans and enjoyed many fun times watching the games. At retirement they moved to St. George and enjoyed happy years together in the SunRiver Community. She loved her book club, widows group, dog park buddies and SunRiver neighbors. A trip to Paris in 2016 with her daughters fulfilled one of her lifetime dreams. She was an active walker and was always busy with living. She was an excellent cook. She loved gardening, reading, quilting, sewing, home décor and painted or helped her family paint approximately 100+ walls. She had a happy, optimistic and sassy attitude that was a joy to her family and friends and people she happened to meet. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Bruschke and Zoe Bruschke; brother Kim Bruschke, and husband, Hal Eckert. She took special care of her mother Zoe for many years before her passing in 2018. Leslie is survived by her loving family who will miss her every day. Sisters Debby Duffield (Lance), Tina Taylor (Warren), children Amy (Kari Rasi-Koskinen), Emilie (Ron Anderson) and step children who she loved; Brad (Janeen) Eckert, Tia Stock (Kyle), Carly Jeffers (John), Tawni Bugden (Wally) and Mike Hanseen. She loved and delighted in All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her devoted furry companion, Teddy. Teddy was, by far, the most spoiled “child” of the lot. We thank Dr. Heather Gilbert who fought alongside Leslie to give her more precious years on this earth. We thank the IHC Hospice Team and especially Emily Mills for the kind attention paid to Leslie during her final weeks. No one loved a little sweet treat better than Leslie and she would encourage you to treat yourself to something fun for yourself like a chocolate croissant or éclair.
