James Lee Stott

James Lee Stott returned home to his Heavenly Father and Savior on January 11, 2026. Jim was born April 27, 1944, in Manti, Utah to Benjamin and Jean Stott. He cherished his years growing up on the farm in Manti and developed a love for the beautiful Manti temple and the camping, fishing, and hunting spots of the surrounding mountains. This love for the outdoors stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed returning to the Manti area with family and friends and enjoyed many days fishing the Provo River and Strawberry Reservoir. Jim moved to Provo for his junior high and high school years. He attended Provo High School where he participated in football and won a state wrestling championship. Jim made several life-long friends in Provo that have been dear to him throughout the years. He joined the National Guard after high school, which led to great adventures and lasting memories with his friends. Jim attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a business degree from Weber State University. He made a life in the sales profession working for several different companies and developed a great reputation later in his career working for automotive dealerships in Orem and St. George Utah. Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and developed a love for carpentry and other craftsmanship. He wasn’t afraid to take on any project and even built his own home with his wife Karen in St. George. They loved the warmth and beauty of Southern Utah. Jim was known for his kind heart and warm, fun-loving personality. He often interjected a good-humored joke to liven up a conversation. Jim had a love for dogs and had several small dogs throughout the years, including his last several years with his buddy Max. Above all, Jim loved his family and friends. He was concerned about everyone and expressed gratitude for the love that they showed to him. He will be missed greatly. Jim spent the last 15 months in the care of Hurricane Health & Rehabilitation Center, and the family is grateful for those who served him there. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Jean Stott, wife Karen Marie Stott, sister Karen Weight, brother-in-law Karl Weight, sister-in-law Katherine Stott, son Clint Barter, and granddaughter Kylee Barter. Jim is survived by his brothers Gary (Linda) Stott, Paul (Brenda) Stott, son Jeff (Debra) Stott, daughter Justien Barber,10 grandchildren: Landon, Corbin, Ashley, Mallory, Elle, Sydnie, Austin, Brynlee, Colin, Oakley, and 15 great-grandchildren. The family is planning to hold a celebration of life for family and friends and will notify all those interested in attending.
