Cortland James Goudie

Cortland James Goudie, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in St. George, Utah. He was born on June 28, 1940, in Babylon, New York, to Lorince and Elizabeth Goudie. Cortland lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, service, and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country as a disabled veteran of the United States Army, carrying with him a deep sense of patriotism and commitment throughout his life. Following his military service, Cortland built a distinguished career with Walt Disney Imagineering, where he worked as an estimator for more than 30 years. His work contributed to creating memorable experiences for countless families, and he took great pride in the profession to which he dedicated much of his life. Cortland was a man who appreciated both hard work and the simple joys of life. He enjoyed rowing, spending time outdoors, and working with his hands. One of his favorite hobbies was building wooden decks, a pastime that reflected his craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail. He also enjoyed watching the news and staying informed about the world around him. After many years in California, Cortland relocated to Utah, where he continued to enjoy life surrounded by family, friends, and his faith community. He was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church and found great comfort and fellowship among its congregation. Above all, Cortland was a loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. He shared 42 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy Goudie. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and cherished memories. He was a proud father to his daughters, Heidi White, Allison Dalton, and Monica Phelps, and a loving stepfather to Matthew Georgi and Ryan Georgi. He was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. Cortland's love extended beyond his family to his cherished dogs, Shilo and Sarnia, who were faithful companions and beloved members of the family. He was preceded in death by his father, Lorince Goudie, and his mother, Elizabeth Goudie. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Goudie; his brother, Larry Goudie; his daughters, Heidi White, Allison Dalton, and Monica Phelps; his stepsons, Matthew Georgi and Ryan Georgi; nine grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Peak Hospice Group and Cremation Center of Southern Utah for the compassionate care, support, and kindness shown to Cortland and his loved ones during his final days. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cremation Gardens at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah 84770. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion in recognition of Cortland's honorable service to his country. The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Cortland to join them for a reception and luncheon following the graveside service. The gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Rainbow Ridge Clubhouse, located at 1526 North Dixie Downs Road, St. George, Utah 84770. Family and friends are welcome to attend as they share memories, stories, and celebrate Cortland's life. Cortland will be remembered for his strength, dedication, craftsmanship, faith, patriotism, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
